Tomáš Nielsen Discusses GDPR at Association for Transport Telematics Workshop

On Wednesday, 28 June 2017, the Association for Transport Telematics (ATT) hosted a workshop organised for the ATT members including Nielsen Meinl; featuring a presentation given by Tomáš Nielsen on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and its major impacts on automated transport systems as of 25 May 2018.

As pointed out by Tomáš Nielsen: “The GDPR introduces a number of new obligations imposed on personal data controllers using automated data processing systems; especially where the rights of data subjects are affected by decisions based on automated processing –for instance, when the prices are set based on the frequency with which the transport services are used by the data subjects, etc. Given the high administrative fines for data security breaches, the new changes introduced by the GDPR should be thoroughly considered and taken into account.”

Featuring subsequent presentations on related topics delivered by other guests and representatives of ATT member organisations, the workshop also welcomed Michal Kubáň (National Open Data Coordinator, Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic) giving a presentation on open data in public administration; and Jiří Bartoň (Rebut) discussing the use of telematics in the closely-watched modernisation of the national D1 highway and criticising in particular the failure of national governments (incl. that of the Czech Republic) to develop fully the opportunities opened by modern telematics systems (the latter having incited a discussion as to whether the public contracts should in the future be rather divided into lots with bids for the construction of highways and delivery of telematics systems).
