Employers to Pay Sickness Benefits a Week Longer

The amended Labour Code introduces longer periods for which Czech employers are to pay sickness benefits.

From 1 January 2011 to 31 December 2013, Czech employers are to pay sickness benefits for up to three weeks to their employees that are temporarily unable to work or isolated in quarantine. Introduced by the latest amendment to the Czech Labour Code, the temporary applicability of this extended period, however, still remains unclear. On the other hand, the period of the first three days of sickness for which the employees are not entitled to any benefits or pay remains unchanged.
