CHANGES TO CONSUMER PROTECTION

Entrepreneurs engaged in trade (sellers of goods and service providers) are soon expected to be affected by amended legislation.

Referring to Regulation (EU) No 524/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 May 2013 on online dispute resolution for consumer disputes and Directive 2013/11/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 May 2013 on alternative dispute resolution for consumer disputes, the proposed amendments to Act No 634/1992 Sb., governing the protection of consumers, are currently being discussed in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic (third reading).

The aim is to implement the Directive on alternative dispute resolution for consumer disputes and adapt to the online dispute settlement procedure for consumer disputes in the Czech Republic.
